St Joseph's provides a range of co curricular opportunities for students.
Our band meets every Monday providing a wide range of instruments under the tutelage of Darren Ward. The band delights audiences in local nursing homes with carols each Christmas. Very soon we will introduce guitar lessons as a further musical opportunity.
We also have a guitar group under the guidance of Ricky Kradolfer every week who will join forces with our band members.
Students are encouraged to enter the ASPIRE songwriting competition each year, guided by our Music teacher Mrs Lisa Pockran. Mrs Pockran also leads our very successful choir, who won the Abermain eisteddfod in 2018 with a scintillating rendition of "The Greatest Show". Talented students have auditioned for parts in the ASPIRE Musical securing support cast roles in this amazing experience.
In 2019, our Year 6 students were shortlisted in the ASPIRE song writing competition.
In 2018, Year 5 students participated in a new recycling initiative; recycling old T-shirts by finger knitting them into cushions for Kindergarten. A local community group partnered the students, teaching them the method for recycling. It is expected that this hands on recycling experience will continue in 2019.
St Joseph's has a Garden Club "Joey's Diggers", who plant, weed and prune plants to beautify our playground.
Our librarian, Mrs Hannan, offers Coding Club at lunch times providing opportunities for students to expand their knowledge of computer programming leading into the STEM program at school.
Our Learning Support team offer 'Lunch Club,' a quiet place for students who don't wish to join the hubbub of a busy playground.
